Watch for Santa on a Fire Truck, Downtown Deals & State Parks are Free on Black Friday

Who is ready to see Santa? (I know my boys are.)

Santa will be escorted throughout town Friday morning (Nov. 27) by local firefighters and police.

Santa will make his first appearance at First State Bank in Bayport from 8:45-9 a.m. before touring Bayport, Stillwater and Oak Park Heights — so be sure to listen for the sirens.

After grabbing your early morning Black Friday deals, swing downtown for some Sleepyhead Doorbusters with downtown stores opening at 9 a.m. with holiday shopping specials, deals and refreshments.

Watch for Santa at about (9:45-10 a.m.) when he comes riding up to Main Street on a fire truck.

Free Victorian Wagon rides are happening in downtown from 1-4 p.m., and strolling Victorian carolers take to the town from 6-9 p.m. as part of the month-long Hometown for the Holidays event.

If you’d like to get outdoors, three area downhill ski areas are open for the season, and entrance to Minnesota State Parks is free on Black Friday.

The annual Twinkle Parade and Christmas Tree lighting is happening in Lowell Park on Saturday, Dec. 5.

The Twinkle Parade celebration begins at 4 p.m. on Nelson Street at Sam Bloomer Way in South Lowell Park. There will be music by the Teddy Bear Band — and free coffee, cocoa, cookies and popcorn before the parade begins.

The parade will end in North Lowell Park, where Santa will arrive on a firetruck, Stillwater’s community Christmas tree will be lit and a short fireworks display happens at the Pedestrian Plaza.
