Washington County Commissioner Gary Kriesel announced on Wednesday that he is seeking re-election this fall.
Kriesel was first elected to represent District 3 on the Washington County Board of Commissioners in November 2004. He was re-elected in 2008, and again, in 2012.
“I have worked hard on behalf of the citizens and communities of District 3 and have been a strong voice for fiscal discipline,” Kriesel said. “I will continue to fight to make sure their hard-earned tax dollars are well spent.”
While serving on the Board of Commissioners, Kriesel worked with local, state and federal leaders to gain support for the St. Croix River Crossing, funding for the Browns Creek State Trail and the purchase of the Aiple Property along the St. Croix River in Stillwater.
“My district covers a large area of Washington County and the people who live and work here have a diverse set of interests and concerns,” Kriesel said. “It has been my honor to serve them and I look forward to building on the relationships I’ve developed.”
District 3 includes Afton, Bayport, Baytown Township, Lake Elmo, Lake St. Croix Beach, Lakeland, Lakeland Shores, Oak Park Heights, St. Mary’s Point, Stillwater, Stillwater Township and West Lakeland Township.
“It’s been such a privilege to serve the residents of Washington County,” Kriesel said. “Working together we can meet the challenges ahead and continue to make Washington County one of the best places to live and work in all of Minnesota.”
Kriesel retired from Xcel Energy after 33 years, and has served two years on the Stillwater City Council. He is a U.S. Navy veteran, and serves on multiple committees dealing with finance, parks and open space, public health and planning.
Kriesel said he appreciates public feedback and encourages residents to contact him with any comments or questions. He can be reached at 651-278-6169 or via email at email@example.com.
