Lift Bridge Beer Co. Can Now Sell Beer Growlers on Sundays

Craft beer drinkers will be able to purchase growlers of beer from Lift Bridge Beer Co. on Sundays. The Stillwater City Council on Tuesday amended the city’s liquor law to enact the Minnesota legislature’s recently-passed Bloody Mary bills, and allow breweries to sell growlers of beer on Sundays. Lift Bridge Brewing Co. is the first (and so far the only) local brewery to request — and receive — an amended permit to their liquor license that allows the sale of beer growlers on Sundays. Each brewery must apply for an amendment to their liquor license to sell beer growlers on Sundays, City Clerk Diane Ward said. Continue Reading →

Hounds of Finn ‘Park the Bus’ at the Water Street Inn St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, and the Hounds Of Finn want you to join them Mar. 13-15  at the Water Street Inn for their “Park the Bus Tour.” Of course, it’s not really a tour, but after spending last St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland touring through Celtic Journeys, they’re more than happy to be in one place this year. “It’s almost like we’re on tour for three days but just in one place,” Pete McCauley explained. St. Patrick’s Day Weekend: ‘Park the Bus’ Tour at the Water Street Inn

Whether Irish by heritage or by choice, the Water Street Inn in downtown Stillwater is a great place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The Saint Paul-based Celtic folk rockers, the Hounds of Finn, are putting on the “Park the Bus Tour” March 13-15, with special guests Broken Spoke playing on Saturday and Sunday. “We’re calling this our Park the Bus Tour because guests will have the chance to spend a fun weekend with us while safely staying off the roads,” said Michelle MacGregor, the Hounds of Finn fiddler. The Water Street Inn is offering special rates on their rooms (Saturday night $149 – $199 / add Friday or Sunday night for $89), a Saturday dinner ($40) and Sunday brunch ($20) with the Hounds — featuring special Irish menus — and a welcome bag for hotel guests including gifts from the Inn, the Hounds of Finn, and 2 Gingers. Single on Valentine’s Day? Check Out the Oakdale Discovery Center

If you’re single and you feel like getting outside and mingle for a while on Valentine’s Day, you may want to check out “Single’s Sampler: Valentine’s Day Full Moon Adventure” at the Oakdale Discovery Center. Wahoo Adventures and the Oakdale Recreation Department partnered to put on an event that gives active singles in the community a chance to meet one another while enjoying snowshoeing through the park lit by ice luminaries, relaxing by our outdoor bonfire and roasting marshmallows, Kerri Kolstad of Wahoo Adventures said. There will also be local foods, wine, and beer indoors by the gas fireplace. Ticket cost is $34 per person and includes food, wine, and beer samples, snowshoes (and lessons), and luminary-lit trails.  The event is from 7 – 9 p.m. You can register at Want more local stuff?
