Suspect in St. Paul Shooting Arrested Just North of Stillwater

The suspect in a St. Paul shooting on Thursday afternoon was arrested just north of Stillwater last night following a police chase that started in Chisago County.

A 37-year-old Woodbury man was jailed on suspicion of murder at 12:35 a.m. Friday. He was arrested after leading police on an 11-mile chase down Highway 95 that began in Chisago County.

The Woodbury man is a suspect in a shooting that was reported to St. Paul police shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday at 370 Selby Ave. when police arrived, they found a man who had been shot in a second-floor office above W.A. Frost. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Later Thursday night, the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office received information that the suspect may be in the Chisago County area. At 9:10 p.m., a Chisago County deputy saw the suspect’s vehicle traveling near Shafer.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle near Highway 95 and 220th Street, but the driver didn’t stop, according to police.

Chisago County deputies pursued the truck southbound on Highway 95 for about 11 miles until the Washington County sheriff’s office, Stillwater police and Minnesota State Patrol took over the pursuit, eventually bringing it to an end just north of downtown Stillwater.

The Woodbury man was taken into custody without incident.
