Stillwater Mayor’s Business Raided by Federal Agents, Harycki Says Issue Involves ‘Former Client’

Federal agents on Thursday morning raided the accounting business, Customized Payroll Solutions, owned by Stillwater Mayor Ken Harycki.

Agents with IRS, in conjunction with the FBI, ATF, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services conducted the raid as part of an “enforcement action,” Special Agent  with the IRS criminal investigations unit Vicki Petricka said.

“The issue that is being investigated involves a former client of Customized Payroll Solutions,” Mayor Ken Harycki said in a prepared statement. “I am deeply disappointed by this situation and we are fully cooperating with authorities.”

According to the Pioneer Press, the IRS called Stillwater police about 7 a.m. Thursday to inform the department they would be conducting a search and requested police assistance.

When Stillwater police learned Harycki’s business was the subject of the search warrant, police declined to assist the IRS citing a conflict of interest—and contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The search warrant was executed at about 8 a.m.
