The Stillwater Lift Bridge is closed to traffic due to a power outage, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).
A motor vehicle struck a transformer at about noon Tuesday, knocking power out to the bridge, according to MnDOT.
“We aren’t sure how long it will take Xcel to fix it, but we are anticipating at least a couple of hours,” Kent Barnard, a spokesperson for MnDOT said.
The Lift Bridge was in the up position when the vehicle stuck the transformer, Barnard said.
Stillwater Mayor Ted Kozlowski said that city’s Public Works department was told the Lift Bridge could be stuck in the up position for at least a day.
