Stillwater Baseball Stars of the Week Awards: Week of June 4

Every week this baseball season, we will announce Stillwater Area Baseball Weekly Stars here on Stillwater Current.

Here’s our weekly award winners for the week of June 4.

Zac Litzow is the Stillwater Current Volunteer of the Week. Zac coordinated two cookouts for both teams’ families for doubleheaders the 11AA team hosted on back to back Sundays. Coaches and the families of both teams raved how fun it was to have a double header with a meal in between.

The Dave’s Sport Shop Hitter of the Week is Anders Thorager  after going 7 for 8 this week with two triples, 7 runs scored, 3 RBI and 3 stolen bases for the 14/15A team.

Josh Wallace is the Pitcher of the Week after throwing three scoreless innings allowing no hits, only one walk and striking out four for the 13AAA team.

Braden Wenner is the Stillwater Motors Player of the Week. Braden pitched two solid innings to start the game before hitting a double in the 5th inning to score two runs and catapult the 12AA team to a 9-8 win.

Hogan Costa is the Umpire of the Week.

Chris Longway is the Bayport Printing House Sportsmanship Star of the Week. Chris is the consummate team player, comes to the ballpark to play hard every game, and plays the game with incredible skill. Last week he pitched 5 innings for the 13AA Black team, giving up no runs on two hits, striking out 10 and walking only one batter!

Mark Kill wins this week’s Posch Builders Coach of the Week award. Mark stepped up to coach Stillwater Area Baseball’s first-ever 9 year-old traveling team. He cares about his players and doing a good job as a coach. It’s not easy being a coach of twelve 9 year-olds, so Mark is our award winner this week.

Thank you to the coaches and parents who continue to nominate players throughout the week at Keep them coming!

We encourage everyone to support these sponsors out of appreciation for their commitment to the community.
