PowerUp Goes to Preschool!

On Saturday, April 5th, 2014 Stillwater’s Early Childhood Family Center partnered with PowerUp to put on a Family Fun Fair, free of charge and open to all preschoolers and their families!

“The preschool family fun fair was great mix of fun activities in the gym, fun games, and learning about how to be healthy. My girls had so much fun- their favorite part was spinning the wheel for a chance to win a healthy snack!” – Bre decorsey, Mom of two.

The event brought in over 150 participants who enjoyed PowerUp activities and games. Among the favorites were Sweet Potato Sweep, winning a Sweet Potato and a recipe to try on their own, a PowerUp Freeze Dance where they learned some fun, new steps from PowerUp and Radio Disney’s Dance Break DVD, and PowerUp Visor Making so they could keep the sun out of their eyes this spring while playing outside!

“What a fun way to PowerUp! My son enjoyed the games—and the prizes! He was so excited to make his sweet potato for dinner that night. And we love the way the gym is set up. He got in more than his ‘One Hour of Play biking and running around.’ – Mandy kimlinger, Mom of two.”

Preschoolers also participated in a veggie vote, where for every veggie they tried they got to give it thumbs up or thumbs down. The results are currently posted at powerup4kids.org/veggievote. Every preschooler who joined in on the fun that Saturday received a plush Chomp, PowerUp’s super-hero mascot! What more can we say? The PowerUp Family Fun Fair was a blast, learning about all the fun we can have with fruits, veggies and of course… play!
