This is the seventh year that Leo’s has held the Veterans Day event.
At 11 a.m. local veterans proceeded from the Stillwater American Legion Post 48 through downtown Stillwater, and ended at the corner of Main and Chestnut streets near Leo’s. Stillwater police stopped traffic while the Color Guard performed their traditional ceremony including a bugler performing “Taps,” a short prayer and a 21-gun salute.
Leo’s is planning to serve more than 250 free meals this year, according to Cory Buettner, Stillwater resident and owner of Leo’s.
“It is a privilege and an honor to welcome the veterans to our restaurant,” Buettner said, adding that his late father Leo Buettner was a Veteran of World War II. The restaurant is named in memory of him.
