Stillwater is off to a 3-0 start, after the Ponies beat Forest Lake 43-7 Friday night.
Going into Friday night, the AP ranked the Ponies No. 10 in the state.
Forest Lake was simply outmatched by the Ponies’ explosive offense.
Quarterback DJ Skie threw for 2 touchdowns — one to Josh Markert and another to Brooks Carroll. Skie also had a 65 yard touchdown run. Running back Zach Knox rushed for 2 touchdowns.
The Ponies defense played another tough game. The Rangers only touchdown came in the fourth quarter of Friday night’s game. Stillwater linebacker Andrew Lammers recovered two fumbles, taking one back for a touchdown.
Stillwater plays Park Friday night at Pony Stadium. Then the schedule will get tougher with games against White Bear Lake, Cretin Derham-Hall and Mounds View.
The Ponies (3-0, 2-0 in SEC) are one of three unbeaten teams in the SEC. East Ridge (3-0, 2-0) crushed Mahtomedi, while Mounds View (3-0) handed Cretin Derham-Hall (1-2) its second loss of the season.
The Rangers have lost 25 consecutive games dating back to the 2011 season, the Stillwater Gazette reports. In the last six meetings, Stillwater has outscored the Rangers 222-20.
