Oak Park Heights Man in Critical Condition After Garage Fire

A 60-year-old Oak Park Heights man is in critical condition after a fire broke out Sunday morning inside his garage in the 14800 block of 56th Street North.

The man, who has not yet been identified, received second- and third-degree burns on more than half of his body after a gas container started on fire while he was working on a riding lawnmower, Bayport Fire Chief Mark Swenson told the Pioneer Press. The fire broke out shortly after 10 a.m. on Oct. 12.

The man was transported to Regions Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Firefighters responded to the scene after neighbors saw the flames and called 911.
