McCormack’s Furniture is closing after nearly 60 years in business in Stillwater.

Linda Petersen, the store’s owner, told KSTP she plans to close by the end of May. Petersen plans to retire.

Don McCormack, Petersen’s father, opened the furniture store in 1958. Peterson took over after after her father retired in 1979.

Since the announcement, McCormack’s has been very busy.

“We’ve been swamped,” Petersen told the Pioneer Press. “It’s a good feeling, but it’s hard seeing all my customers. They’re sad we’re going.”

After the inventory is sold, Petersen plans to sell the property.
