Stillwater City Council member Mike Polehna announced he will seek re-election as the Ward 4 representative on the Stillwater City Council, a position he has held for the past 14 years.
Polehna currently serves as the city’s Vice-Mayor. He served as Stillwater’s 50th Mayor in 2014.
“I am running for re-election because I love Stillwater and want to keep our city
moving forward in enhancing the quality of life in our fair city in a cost effective manner,” Polehna said.
In his work on the Council, Polehna has worked on projects and events such as the St. Croix River Crossing, the Browns Creek Trail, construction of the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center, the Fire Station relocation, the Stillwater Public Library and the Police Station remodel.
Polehna also organized Stillwater’s 4th of July Fireworks celebration, the community lift bridge closing dance, the community Christmas tree, and the recent Olympic Champion Jessie Diggins welcome home event with the Women of Winter State High School Champions Parade.
One of the projects Polehna said he is most proud is establishing the National award winning Stillwater Yellow Ribbon Committee to support our community’s armed services members.
“We’ve got a lot of wonderful things going on in Stillwater,” Polehna said, “and I want to continue to be a leader in making it happen.”
