Dr. John Baillie, owner and medical director of Cedar Pet Clinic Lake Elmo, has been been named Veterinarian of the Year by the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association.
Baillie received the award at the recent convention at the Hilton Minneapolis,where nearly 2500 veterinarians and veterinary professionals gathered for their annual meeting.
“This award is the most prestigious that we give”, said Dan Tjornehoj of theMinnesota Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA). “It is for his accomplishments and dedication to veterinary medicine and service to others that the MVMA has honored Dr. Baillie.”
“I am overwhelmed and grateful,” said Baillie. “It’s a wonderful profession, and after 40 years, I still am happy to go to work every day. I hope all of us will continue to pay it forward, encouraging young practitioners to participate in the profession.”
Baillie is a 1972 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, where he is a regular lecturer, and founded Cedar Pet Clinic that same year. His practice includes dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, pet chickens, pocket pets, reptiles, and many more.
“Our rule has always been that if it fits through the door, we’ll see it,” he says.
Dr. .Baillie is a past president of the MVMA and past chair of the Foundation’s golf fundraiser. He is a member of the organization’s Government Affairs Committee, and has testified at the state capitol. He is the current chair of the membership committee and a regular mentor to students and young professionals.
