A groundbreaking for the new Stillwater Fire Station and National Guard Armory is set for Friday, Aug. 22.
The groundbreaking will begin at 10 a.m. at the project site located at 31210 75th St. N.
The Minnesota National Guard has opened up the bid process for a proposed $20 million facility. The Stillwater City Council recently approved bids for the new $7.3 million fire station.
Project managers hope construction of the new fire station will be complete in summer 2015.
As construction activity ramps up for the fire station, all heavy equipment and material deliveries will access the site via County Road 12 (Myrtle Street) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Construction crews for the Armory project will access the job site via Boutwell Road.
