A handful of Gopher athletes crashed open gym at Stillwater Junior High School Feb. 7 for PowerUp’s latest event in partnership with Stillwater schools.
Elle Arvesen, Julia Courter, Jennifer Larrick and Luke Mcavoy shot hoops, played floor hockey, tossed around the football with about 100 kids from the community. The athletes signed Gopher posters, hung out, and shared how they PowerUp.
Chomp also made a guest appearance, challenging Gopher soccer player, Jennifer Larrick, to a push-up competition. After completing 25 push-ups, Jennifer decided to let Chomp win. (Photos and descriptions provided by PowerUp)
Gopher athlete Elle Arvesen, a graduate of Mahtomedi high school, who played both basketball and soccer in high school, organized a game of lightening with the athletes and kids. (Photos and descriptions provided by PowerUp)
Elle was very excited to see such a great initiative in the St. Croix Valley and hopes to return to an open gym in the near future.
The Gopher Athletes also powered up by playing the PowerUp dice game, jumping rope and using the skip it. They also took the PowerUp Veggie Vote to help us elect the favorite veggies in our community.
