The Stillwater City Council approved a joint powers agreement with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to take over the maintenance cost of a new fishing pier on McKusick Lake.
Last month, a fishing pier was installed on the north side of Mckusick Lake, near the intersection of McKusick Road and Amundson Drive. The project was spearheaded by the Mckusick Lake Association, working with the DNR’s Fishing in the Neighborhood Program and the Sunrise Rotary to fund the project.
The city’s contribution to the project included the grading of the path to the pier and future maintenance costs.
“Our city staff, the McKusick Lake Association and the Rotary Club did a fantastic job out there, Council Member Mike Polehna said. “That fishing pier is beautiful. I want to pass on our thank you. It’s a beautiful addition to our community.”
