Election Update: Rheinberger Files a Run for Stillwater Mayor, Collins to Challenge Menikheim in Ward 1

There will be a race for at least two of the three seats open on the Stillwater City Council.

John Rheinberger filed to run for mayor against Ward 2 City Council Member Ted Kozlowski. As of May 27, no other candidates have filed to run for mayor.

In Ward 1, Ryan Collins threw his hat in the ring for the seat currently held by Doug Menikheim, who will seek re-election.

Mike Polehna has filed for re-election in Ward 4. To date, there are no challengers.

We’ve reached the halfway point to file for public office. The filing period closes at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3. If necessary, primary elections are Aug. 12.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Rheinberger is currently the water supervisor for Minnesota Soil and Water Conservation in District 3. He served a term on the Stillwater City Council in 2001, and ran for mayor in 2002 and 2006. Rheinberger is a lawyer, who has been featured for traveling to every country in the world.

Collins currently serves on the Stillwater Planning Commission. He was appointed to the seat in December 2012.
