Dates and Times for Stillwater Area Candidate Forums

The City of Stillwater is not administering absentee ballots at City Hall.

The Stillwater Gazette is sponsoring a series of candidate forums this month that will be broadcast on Valley Access. The questions will be written by the newspaper’s staff.

Stillwater City Council

Stillwater Area Schools

The St. Croix Valley Chapter of Minnesota Council for the Gifted and Talented hosts a family-friendly

meet and greet with 2014 candidates for Stillwater Area School Board on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Teddy Bear

Park.

The event is open to all and will include a question and answer session on the main floor of Teddy Bear Park’s

Carriage House building. Community members in attendance can submit written questions for the candidates

between 3:30 – 4 p.m. Moderators from the St. Croix Valley Gifted leadership team will draw from the community

submissions to guide candidate question and answer starting at 4 p.m.

All school board candidates were sent a short questionnaire from St. Croix Valley Gifted ahead of the

event. Their written responses will be shared at www.stcroixvalleygifted.net.

  • A District 834 School Board candidate forum will be 8:15-9:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at Stillwater City Hall. According to the Gazette, Hovland will not be at the forum, citing a prior commitment.

Oak Park Heights City Council

  • 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Oak Park Heights City Hall, and aired on Valley Access
  • Candidates: (2 seats) David Beaudet, Mike Liljegren and Mark Swenson.

Bayport

  • A Bayport City Council forum is from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Bayport City Hall and will be aired on Valley Access.
  • Candidates (2 seats): Brian DeLisle, Michele Hanson and Patrick McGann.

Lake Elmo

  • 7:15-8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Lake Elmo City Hall
  • Candidates (2 seats): Julie Fliflet, Jill Lundgren, Wally Nelson and Mike Reeves.
