Dairy Queen to Move from Downtown Stillwater to Valley Ridge Mall

Dairy Queen is moving out of downtown Stillwater.

The Stillwater Dairy Queen will relocate to a new, free-standing $1.5 million building in front of OfficeMax along Highway 36 in the southwest corner of the Valley Ridge Mall parking lot, according to the Pioneer Press. The new Dairy Queen will have a drive-thru window, a large outdoor eating space, plenty of parking and room for 80 seats.

According to the Pioneer Press, Dairy Queen plans to open at Valley Ridge Mall in June, and will stay open downtown until the relocation.

Greg Gartner and his wife Suzanne opened the downtown Stillwater Dairy Queen location opened in 2009.

In 1976, Loren Williquet opened the original Stillwater Dairy Queen on Highway 36 at Omaha Avenue (in the area that is now Taco Bell). In addition to the downtown location, Dairy Queen has also opened stores where Leeann Chin is now located across from Stillwater Market Place and in the old St. Croix Mall.
