Community Thread just launched an improved online volunteer database called Community Thread Connect.
The database is described as a one-stop shop for volunteer opportunities throughout the St. Croix Valley. Local nonprofits can post their volunteer and donation needs online in hopes of increasing the opportunities for community members to get involved.
Opportunities currently listed online include being a Volunteer Visitor for senior residents at Saint Therese of Woodbury, becoming a Tutor for elementary or middle school students at Solid Ground, or assisting as a Gardener for the 2016 season with Pollinator Friendly Alliance.

“Staying active in my community is important and that’s why I love Community Thread’s volunteer database,” local community volunteer Mary Piontek said. “I have participated in several volunteer opportunities found online and appreciate the range of opportunities. I’ve made new friends, learned new skills and am enjoying giving back to my community.”
By creating a venue that allows people to see ways they can make a difference and agencies to promote their needs, Community Thread hopes to increase the potential for volunteerism, in-kind donations and involvement in the community.
“A stronger community starts with impactful connections. Community Thread’s Volunteer Center connects people to meaningful volunteer opportunities and supports local organizations seeking volunteers. Community Thread Connect is a great venue to foster these connections in one easy-to-use place,” said Sara Pennebecker, Community Thread’s Volunteer Center Program Manager.
Referrals via phone are also available for those unable to find something online.
