The Associated Press recently reported about the popularity of the paddle boat tours offering visitors a view of construction from below the St. Croix River Crossing.
Well, here’s a look from above.
The mashup of aerial photos above shows one year of construction progress on the St. Croix River Crossing. The photo on the left was taken on July 18, 2014. The photo on the right was taken July 8, 2015.

Last week, crews completed the construction of Pier tower 8 on the St. Croix River—closest to the Minnesota shoreline. Work on Pier 9 will be complete by mid-August, according to MnDOT.
Minnesota approach road work will be complete this summer, and the new St. Croix Crossing will open to traffic in fall 2016.
In Wisconsin, the County Road E detour in Houlton is in place through September. It uses WIS 35, County Road V and County Road E. See detour map.
