The candidate filing period for for two seats on the Stillwater City Council opens Tuesday, May 17.
Stillwater City Council elections will be held for representatives of Wards 2 and 3. City Council members serve four-year terms, beginning in January 2017.
Dave Junker was appointed in 2015 to represent Ward 2 after Ted Kozlowski was elected mayor. Tom Weidner was elected in 2012 to represent Ward 3.
The filing period for city council closes at 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 31. Note: Stillwater City Hall is not open on Memorial Day.
The filing fee is $5.
Candidates for Ward 2 or 3 must live in the Ward in which they seek election. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, and will have maintained residence in the Ward/City from which the candidate seeks election for 30 days before the election.
Anyone interested in filing an affidavit of candidacy should contact the City Clerk, 216 4th Street North, Stillwater, 651-430-8800, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A candidate filing packet will be available online beginning Tuesday, May 17 at www.ci.stilllwater.mn.us/elections.
