The body found in the St. Croix River on May 2 has been identified as Abbey Kae Russell.
Russell, 24, was reported missing on April 25. Family, friends, volunteers and the local authorities conducting ground, aerial and water searches in Stillwater and on the St. Croix River every day until Russell was found.
Foul play is not suspected in the death of Russell, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
“Abbey was the most wonderful best friend and sister. She was the person everyone wanted to have by their side. She was inspirational, genuine, kind, loving, talented, and so extremely special,” her sister-in-law Vanessa Rossano wrote in a Facebook post. “Her smile and laughter was addicting. She brightened up every room she entered. There was, and never will be, anyone like her.”
