For the past five years a group of downtown Stillwater restaurants has put on the “Best Burger in the Valley” contest benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. To date, the contest has raised more than $50,000.
Now comes the tough part of my gig.
In support of the cause, I’m going to stop at each of the seven restaurants in the contest–and without inserting my opinion– tell you what you can look forward to in the coming weeks if you have a Best Burger card.
The first stop on Stillwater Current’s “Best Burger in the Valley” tour took me to Charlie’s Irish Pub at the Water Street Inn.
Here’s what I found:
Charlie’s Irish Pub’s official entry into the contest is Charlie’s Irish Whiskey Burger. This half-pound, charbroiled burger is stuffed with imported Irish Whiskey Cheese, topped with crispy onion straws and covered in a sweet and savory Irish Whiskey sauce. It’s served a Rye bun.
I know there are many others enjoying this contest, so please feel free to share your thoughts on each burger in the comment section below.
Stillwater Current’s “Best Burger in the Valley” Tour will also be making stops at these fine establishments:
- Brine’s Bar & Restaurant
- Leo’s Grill and Malt Shop
- Oasis Cafe
- Pub 112
- Smalley’s Caribbean Barbeque and Pirate Bar
- Charlie’s Irish Pub
The Best Burger in the Valley card costs $30 (value: $65), and will get you a burger at each of the participating restaurants through March. Voting ends April 15, and the winner will be announced in late-April.
Cards are still available at Leo’s, through the mail or by calling KLBB Radio at 651-275-1220.
