The Belwin Conservancy is releasing a herd of about 30 bison this weekend at their restored prairie in Afton.

The buffalo release will happen at noon, but family-friendly activities begin at 11 a.m. The Truck from Afton Alps will be on hand with a special menu to sell food at the event. There will also be an art project led by The Phipps Center for the Arts in conjunction with What We Need in Here.

The event is free.

Parking is available at the Lucy Winton Bell Athletic Fields, located at 15601 Hudson Road in West Lakeland.  The parking lot is a short walk through a prairie to the bison release site, or you can take a free tractor ride.

Limited parking nearer the release site on Division Street is available for those who require special access.
