ArtReach St. Croix has a bunch of events happening this spring as part of “The Big Read in the St. Croix Valley.”
Events and book discussions centered around themes found in “Love Medicine” by Minnesota author Louise Erdrich will take place in April and May at venues across the valley.
The Big Read’s events include art exhibitions, an original theatre production, film screenings, guided nature hikes, performances and book discussions.
Here’s a sampling of the events:
Thursday, April 2: The opening of “Spirit, Heart, Home.” a visual art exhibition inspired by the themes of Love Medicine at the ArtReach St. Croix gallery. The opening is from 6–8 p.m., and features artists from all over the St. Croix Valley.
Tuesday, April 7: First discussion of “Love Medicine” will happen from 7–8 p.m. at the Marine Community Library.
Friday, April 10: Discussion of “Love Medicine” will happen from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Stillwater Public Library.
Saturday, April 11: The official Big Read kick-off event, “Crossing the Water,” is from 1–4 p.m., at the Marine Village Hall in Marine on St. Croix.
ArtReach St. Croix is one of 77 organizations nationwide — and the only in Minnesota — to receive a $15,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to host The Big Read in the St. Croix Valley.
