All the Lumberjacks Need is Love Heat!

Local Special Olympics Team Bears the Cold Winter Water in the Annual Polar PlungeOn Valentine’s Day

WHAT: The SCV Lumberjacks are once again braving the frigid Minnesota waters for their largest fundraising event of the year, the Polar Plunge. This year’s event site, Woodbury, is brand new, and the air temperature on Saturday will only be seven degrees (can you say brrrr?) Interviews will be available with plungers, including athletes and coaches, so come see the team freezing for a reason! The SVC Lumberjacks will be celebrating at Buffalo Wild Wings (5991 Norwich Ave. N. Stillwater MN 55082) after they plunge around 2:00-2:30pm in the afternoon and are providing free food to the plungers, their families, and the press covering the event.

WHO: Twenty-six individuals affiliated with the St. Croix Valley Lumberjacks Special Olympics team. This includes: eight athletes, nine coaches, and nine community members.

WHERE: Carver Lake Beach – 3175 Century Ave S, Woodbury

Special Note: There is no parking available at the plunge site. A free shuttle bus route, sponsored by Access Press will be available from 11 a.m. through the end of the Plunge. Shuttle buses are free to all participants and spectators. All others must ride the shuttle buses, which will run approximately every 15 minutes from the following locations:

The SVC Lumberjacks are also taking a bus to and from the Plunge. They are leaving from Stillwater Area High School (5701 Stillwater Blvd N. Stillwater, MN) and will depart at 12:00pm.

WHEN: Saturday, February 14th from 1:00pm- 2:00pm

WHY: The temperature will only be 7 degrees on Saturday! The Lumberjacks organization contains over 200 local athletes, coaches, and families. This Polar Plunge event directly benefits over 140 Special Olympic athletes in the St. Croix Valley area and over 8,000 athletes across the state of Minnesota.
